Every Home has a Photo Spot

We moved into our house five months ago and are slowly but surely beginning to make it our own.

We have three daughters and our youngest started prep this year.  On her first day the house was a buzz with excitement and anticipation as I started looking around for the perfect ‘photo spot’ to take our obligatory first day of school shots.

It occurred to me that every home has at least one ‘photo spot’.  Sometimes one inside and one outside.  I reflect on my own childhood where my brother, sisters and I would automatically know how to arrange ourselves- Little two in the front, big two at the back.  Inside we stood in the lounge room between the two windows, and outside in front of the big nectarine tree in the backyard.

I just love watching each year as Instagram and Facebook are flooded with images of beautiful smiling children in their own home’s ‘photo spot’.  Some were in the garden, others in front of feature walls or a beautiful staircase.  Our spot, in the end, was in front of the hedge and cubby house.

At the end of the day, our homes are the backdrops to the main story- The people and memories being created.  This backdrop can be stunning, but it should also support our intention for how we want to live and connect with our loved ones every day.

Much Love,
